PREPARING FOR YOUR STAY

WHAT TO PACK For a short stay

Please bring as little as possible when coming to the hospital, but be sure to include the following items:

  • Night clothes (avoid snaps and long gowns), bathrobe, and sturdy nonskid slippers or shoes if staying overnight

  • Comfortable clothes to wear home

  • Personal toiletry items such as toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, comb or brush, deodorant, and razor, although these items are available at no charge during your stay

  • A list of all medications you take (including prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal remedies), including the dose, time of day, and reason for the medication

  • Details of illnesses, surgeries, and any allergies to medicines, foods, or environment

  • Your health insurance or health plan card

  • A list of the names and telephone numbers of family or friends to call if needed

  • Your driver's license if you need to use notary services

  • Cash

  • Jewelry

  • Credit cards

  • Checkbook

  • Electric shaver

  • Hair dryer

  • Curling iron

  • You may use only battery-operated personal items, including cell phones and tablets, while you are in the hospital.
